The Castle 'Chateau Bourgeoisie' originally the Chateau de Laimont dates from the 13th Century and is situated in the small French village of 'Laimont' located in the Lorraine region of France.

The castle is located in the Meuse Department (Lorraine) a ten minute drive from the Historic town of Bar-le-Duc operated by the DUO Steve & Maurice who have been active in the Hotel industry since 2015

The label Ville d'Art et d'Histoire certainly does not suit Bar-le-Duc.

The magnificent, unique built heritage and the atmosphere created by events such as the RenaissanceS festival place this manageable city high on the list of the Most Beautiful Detours in France. The historic Ville Haute district is just as surprising as the lower-lying Ville Basse shopping district, which is crossed by two rivers and has interesting features...

Upper Town,

almost untouched renaissance

Take a step back in time during a walk through the Ville Haute district, where the Renaissance is kept alive in an excellent way. Unique in France, the ochre-coloured alleys with mansions with elegant facades of natural stone. Carved pediments, high windows, all kinds of spouts, the architectural details of the Renaissance have miraculously withstood the test of time. Not far from the Clock is the church of Saint-Etienne with the 'Transi' by sculptor Ligier Richier.

Since 13 JULY 2023, the Castle has been baptized 'CHATEAU BOURGEOISIE'

and the STEEGE - GEERTS family does everything they can to welcome their guests with the utmost care and style during their stay in the extremely well-maintained Castle.

'Sweet France...'

The new owners Steve & Maurice were able to buy the Castle during their career in the Hotellerie sector. The couple has been successfully active in the Hotellerie sector since 2015.

At the height of their career, after the TV broadcasts on VTM 'Met4inBed' JULY 2023, they decided to accept the proposal to buy a Chateau in France in the Lorraine region.

The duo is passionate about Antique and Rustic interiors which made them instantly fall in love with the style of the beautiful castle...

Nancy's Bergamot

The Bergamot of Nancy is a candy with an inimitable taste. It was the first candy in France to have a Protected Geographical Indication (IGP).

This square, transparent, golden yellow sour candy owes its flavor to bergamot oil, an essential oil from Calabria that was brought to Nancy long before 1750 by the Dukes of Lorraine, René of Anjou and René II.

Bergamot used to be the favorite candy of Stanislas Leszczynski, also a Duke of Lorraine. Towards the end of the 19th century, it became the specialty of many Nancy candy makers. Where to buy the one and only Bergamot candy from Nancy

ECUREY POLES OF THE FUTURE

Former art and ornament foundry transformed into a testing centre for 'good living in a rural environment' with a museum area, a first-class cultural programme and agricultural activities (nettle, market gardening). The public can explore this 9-hectare site along a landscaped path that runs through the former abbey and the factory. This path also takes you to the mould warehouse with an exceptional collection of cast iron models. Exhibition on the history of this place and of the 'Pays Barrois'.

Guided tours are organised on Sundays and by reservation. Also a shop with regional products. Audio guides available in French, German and English. Children receive a discovery suitcase.

MUSEUM DUVERRE D'ARGONNE

Discover the history of glass in Argonne, from Antiquity to the present day, created and managed by the association of the Friends of Glass of Argonne in Les Islettes, located 6 km from Clermont-en-Argonne and 9 km from Sainte-Ménehould. The association is based on more than 50 years of excavations and research.

Museums

MUSEUM OF SACRED ART

The Museum of Sacred Art has a permanent collection of works acquired by the Conseil Général and gathers religious objects that were scattered in the village churches in the area. The museum is located in the abbey where almost 9,000 manuscripts from the Benedictine library are also kept.

The Ivory and Ceramics Museum is housed in the buildings of the old bathhouse. The museum exhibits one of the largest public ivory collections in France and a magnificent collection of ceramics bequeathed to the city at the beginning of the 20th century.

BENEDICTINE LIBRARY

The Benedictine library was completed around 1775 and contains almost 8,783 works, of which 74 manuscripts, 86 incunabula and rare preserved valuable printed works, the oldest dating from the 10th century. This exceptional stock can be discovered in the antechamber, richly decorated through various thematic exhibitions. A film projection allows you to discover the content and the history of the library.
